top 10 hair products

It’s a classic desert island question- if you could only take one hair product with you to have for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“One, in that humidity, are you mental?” would be my swift response. I rely on a great hoard of products to keep my locks looking their best, I’ve tried so many, and spent so much of my student loan, that I have finally been able to whittle them down to a top 10, and only if I was allowed to retain all 10 would I begin my new life on a desert island. I would also need cheese and 4od, thanks.

As I try new products, this list might change, so I’ll make sure to keep it updated!

  1. Redken Extreme Anti Snap – Around £15-

This is by far my favourite hair product, and I genuinely don’t think I’ll be without it. It’s a leave in ‘fortifier’ with heat protection for distressed hair.

“18-MEA helps restore the lipid layer of protection and resurfaces the cuticle to help restore shine while amino acids and protein enter the cuticle for targeted structural repair.”

  1. MOP C-System Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner – Around £13 per bottle

Amazing, sulphate free cleansing and conditioning. Makes my hair incredibly soft, smells amazing, no harsh chemicals and lots of organic fruity ingredients, what’s not to love?!! (Maybe the price eeek)

“Cleanse your hair and scalp with an antioxidant rich blend of vitamins and fruit extracts. This sulphate free formula replenishes moisture and leaves hair soft and manageable. It is pH balanced and colour safe.”

  1. Coconoil Solid Coconut Oil – £9

I love coconut oil, who needs to spend £30 on a tiny bottle of Moroccan oil when you can get a giant tub of this stuff for a third of the price. Coconut oil is the only oil that can fully penetrate the hair shaft, so it doesn’t just coat it to make it shiny, it actually repairs damage. Use as a treatment before washing or as a leave in conditioner.

  1. L’oreal  Kids apple detangler – £2- .

A lot of the products I use are quite pricy, but you don’t always need the most expensive products. This does exactly what it says on the tin, detangles my hair, and for £2 you can’t go wrong, it also smells AMAZING, like apple bubblegum I think, a bottle will last for months, and it’s no more tears, perfect!

  1. Toni & Guy Advanced Detox Shampoo – £6-

I use a lot of oils and sulphate free shampoos, which are really good for my hair, but can build up over time and cause a coating. Every fortnight I give it a ‘detox’ with this shampoo to strip all the oils so I can start again. Please don’t use regularly or if you have damaged hair.

  1. Kerastase Cristalliste Serum Lumiere – £16 –

I love the whole kerastase cristalliste range, for long hair, and this serum is great, although very pricy. I use it just on my ends when my hair is completely dry and makes it feel like silk. “Bring luminosity and shine to lack lustre locks with the Kérastase Cristalliste Serum Lumiere. This non-greasy, leave in serum smoothes hair without weighing it down.”

7. Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm – £6 –

A good night cream is essential for our skin, but what about out hair? I love this product, I put it on thick before I sleep and when I wake up it’s completely soaked in, and my hair feels totally repaired.

8.L’oreal Extraordinary Oil – £10 –

The hair industry has gone a bit crazy for this product, and so have I! I like to use this when my hair is about 75% dry, it completely smooths down all flyaways and seals any split ends. “L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oils All Hair Types is a sublime hair enhancer. It’s a precious blend of six flower extracts with nourishing properties for sumptuous softness and luxurious shine ensuring a weightless touch. L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oils All Hair Types is also a 5-in-1 Miracle Hair Perfector which will make your hear look amazing!”

9.Vo5 Miracle Mist – £3.50 –

This is a great, super light weight leave in conditioner, I use it in conjunction with the L’oreal kids detangler to prep for blow drying. It’s also a heat protector.

10.Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment – £8 –
